Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SellYourDevice's platform and services. By submitting a quote or using this website, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.

SellYourDevice (Pty) Ltd is registered in the Republic of South Africa. These Terms are governed by South African law.

1. The Service

SellYourDevice operates as a device buy-back platform. We purchase used electronic devices from members of the public and resell them through our strategic partner network. We are not a marketplace — we are the buyer.

3. The Quote Process

3.1 Quote Validity

All quotes are valid for 5 working days from the date of submission, provided your device matches the condition you described. After 5 days, we reserve the right to revise the offer.

3.2 Condition Assessment

Quotes are based on the condition you self-report. On receipt of your device, we assess it against the following grades:

If our assessment differs from yours, we will send you a revised offer. You may accept the revised offer or request your device be returned. * A return handling fee of R300 applies to cover courier and processing costs.

3.3 iCloud & Find My

You must disable Find My iPhone and remove the device from your Apple ID before sending it. We cannot accept, process, or pay for iCloud-locked devices. Such devices will be returned to you at our cost, and your quote will be void.

4. Collection & Shipping

We arrange courier collection from your specified address. Collection is free of charge and fully insured. Risk of loss passes to us once the courier has collected the device and provided you with a tracking number. You are responsible for appropriately packaging the device before collection.

5. Payment

Payment is made via EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) to your nominated South African bank account within 24 hours of device receipt and assessment confirmation. We do not make payments via cash, PayPal, cryptocurrency, or any other method.

You are responsible for providing accurate banking details. We are not liable for payment delays caused by incorrect banking information.

6. Prohibited Devices

We will not purchase:

If we discover a device is blacklisted or stolen, we are obligated to report it to the South African Police Service (SAPS) and cooperate with any investigation. We will not return such devices.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including design, text, images, and code — is the property of SellYourDevice (Pty) Ltd and may not be reproduced without permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by South African law, SellYourDevice's liability is limited to the value of the device transaction. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.

9. Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute, contact us at hello@sellyourdevice.co.za within 30 days. We will endeavour to resolve all disputes within 14 working days. If unresolved, disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

10. Consumer Protection Act

These Terms are subject to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights under the CPA.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of our platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
